Okay Very Happy
Just thought I'd start this thread for not only us Aussies but for anyone wishing to talk about things happening down this way. (We will try not to discuss DL tour possibilities, until we hear something solid from the OS.......... K?) But if you want to talk about Koala's, or croc's - here's the place!

We are a great bunch of people. We don't like sh*t slinging - same as the next person, and we don't take sh*t - same as the next person. As Stand up89 says: We're here for a good time, not a long time! ROCK ON !!!!!

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I know absolutely nothing about Australia, other than the pictures I have seen on TV and in books and magazines. I think it is beautiful. And I'm somewhat familiar with the language via Nicole Kidman, Steve Erwin, Russel Crowe, Keith Urban and Oliva Newton John. And...I have eaten at the famous American food chain, "Outback". (love it!) I hate flying, but I would hop a plane to visit Australia at least once in my life time. Very Happy

OK...no croc...must be a Territory thing...I like 'em...haven't had any croc in quite a while, though...there's an idea for the next time i go to the wharf Very Happy Very Happy

Our paper, NT news, quite frankly, sucks. All they seem to care about is the crocs LOL Neutral That's front page news here....Crocs removed from creeks, this croc attacked that croc, this croc attacked this-or-that person is front page news. Neutral Although, I do recall that at one point there was an article about some guy who drank 24 stubbies of beer, 12 cans of beer, a bottle of bourbon, a casket of wine, 6 Smirnoff Mudshakes, etc. in one night and then went back to the bottle shop for more and somehow managed to balance it all on his bike. That was front page news as well. So, see what kind of people live in Darwin? Yobbos and all they worry about is the crocs and booze...ah well Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

My aunt and uncle and their kids and grandkids all live in Victoria. They've been over here to visit and are always inviting us to come down, but wow, is it expensive to fly there. Someday, though. The last time my aunt and uncle were here, I spotted him walking down a major road on the way to Target from my parents house. I stopped to pick him up because I figured he had car trouble and he said that he was on a "walk about" - he was 6 miles from home and still going. He said that's what alot of people do in his area? How about you all?

"walkabout" is a hike. Usually, when someone says someone else has "gone walkabout", it means that the person in question has gone missing. I don't go on walkabouts 'coz I'm too busy with other stuff. LOL Very Happy Very Happy

Australia really is a beautiful place - I wouldn"t want to live anywhere else in world! We've got everything here! Well, most of the time. We need more rain. SE Queensland is close to being on level 4 water restrictions. And being so dry, we've had few bushfires near our place. Scary Neutral

My family is into horses, except me. They never took to me........the last time I went horse riding, the horse started (this is what we say here!!) pigrooting in the middle of a shallow rocky creek, I held on for dear life!! A good horse is priceless... Ok maybe not in your mind since your "Run For The Roses" (we refer to a rush home or somewhere that way). Wallowing in the mud is how horses get rid of bugs, and riders Wink , and is common. Have one try to do it to you during a Cross Country phase of a Three-Day..... ugh!!!!!!!!

My sis has been to Australia on buisness trips, Melbourne (sp?, I truely SUCK at spelling sorry) mostly. She said it was really beautiful, and people out going. Which says alot since my sis isn't too hot around strangers. I loved to vist one day... See if I can't drag my friend in Canada down for a trip ~ she's a true blond and a absoulte riot~ next fall maybe.

You have brush fires like we do here in Nevada. I think about 80% of N. Nevada has been torched big time this summer. Afew places three or four times (around Elko, Jarabridge). I don't beleive Orvada got hit bad thou. Really bad when it gets into the pines thou, it takes off and becomes near impossible to deal with quickly. So far, knock on wood for ya California, Ca. hasn't had the fires they normaly have during this time of year.

Dumb "Q" but here we go out into the desert and party (pick ups, 4X4's, etc... big ole bon fire, drinking, food and alot of B.S.), what all you do?
